Hello folks,
Before I go to surgery on September 19, I have another milestone to celebrate. Tuesday, September 9 is my 40th birthday. I am so grateful to have lived as long as I have and to be able to participate in a forum which allows me to express myself and share stories relevant to me. I hope you enjoy my posts, and I look forward to seeing yours too. If you are on my friend list, drop me a line and let me know how you are doing. The coffee is always brewing and the reading is always happy,

David, I know how you feel. My wife had her thyroid removed and just had her dose of radioactive iodine 2 days ago. She is doing well. It is definitely life changing, but the treatments and operation have a high success rate. I hope that all goes well for you.

Best of luck with that ... no wait. Luck shouldn't have that much to do with it. Better still, work hard to make SURE you have the best doctors available to you. Then luck won't enter into it. I also know how it feels to have a perspective altering event in your life. In my case, not me, but my wife. Now, whenever I think about doing this, or that, I stop to consider whether I would later regret not spending the time with her. Just a little breast cancer, and treatment is good, prognosis good - but it DOES alter your perception of how to best arrange your time every day. I would also tell you to follow her procedure: Don't mope around whining about "Why me?" - take charge of yourself and your treatment and ask "What's to be done next, and how soon can we do it." Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

David you always seem to have a positive attitude towards most things and that is one of the best things to have when one is told they have cancer, like the other members here I wish you the best and if you have a really bad day and need an moment to talk, remember we are here.
